No one focuses on EO/IR like FLIR.  FLIR doesn’t divert its attention and resources away from electro-optic and thermal imaging by building other types of products.  FLIR is not a conglomerate of different kinds of businesses.  Every element of FLIR—every operating location, every technology, every person—is dedicated to supplying the technology, components, and sub-systems to go into our EO/IR systems.

One result of this is that FLIR is vertically integrated.  We have all the critical technologies under one roof.  We make our own specialized optics and coatings, high-efficiency cryo-coolers, high resolution detectors and readouts, and advanced diode-pumped lasers.  This allows us to build the highest performance into the most compact, lightest, most power-efficient systems possible, and to qualify them beyond MIL SPEC when needed to meet the demands of the real world.  If FLIR were to simply integrate components and technologies from third parties, as others often do, this would not be possible.
